Challenge & Group Projects  2010  -  Draft 11/11/09

 Challenge

There will be a £10 prize for each of the following two classes.  Judged by members who will vote after a brief show and tell of design and techniques (egg timer)  - Nov meeting

                                     6.5” sq Sun, sea & sand  (this years theme)

  1. Olympic pennants  to give athletes in 2012

 

  1. Region 7 challenge  --  A4 mini quilts ‘First signs of Spring’

 

  1. Group Banner  --  Design & make

 

5.    Morsbags – Re-useable,  recycled fabric bags instead of plastic.    www.morsbags.com

 

6.    Journal mini quilts  An aim to make a small quilt each month covering a new technique or memory.  Ambitious but a quick way to capture  and try new ideas

Wadding Day

To compare drape, loft & wear of available wadding.  Members to bring  quilts and sample piece of wadding labelled with name and if known width etc.

 

Fat Quarter exchange

Bring in those fat quarters you now hate and take home some thing new and inspiring.  Either one for one swap    or    labelled with price.

 

Demos

To share members skills and assist new members develop,  Sewing Days will also have mini demos of techniques or patterns.  If you would like a technique or can offer a demo see Valerie Sheppard.   Token payment will be made to tutors.
